A Close Call for Me

Being a domestic violence survivor and living with a restraining order, you have to live life like a soldier, always alert to the gnawing possibility of a close call. 2007 ended banging the gong.

On the night before New Year's Eve, I ventured to the only computer cafe open on a Sunday, to connect to the internet.

I noticed my Ex-Monster's buddy hovering nearby the place. Focused and determined to get some work done, I braved it, and went in to use the computer. With diligence driving me, I dove into my projects.

Soon thereafter, the obnoxious smirk approached me, and then came the cocky hello.

The court of law is a complicated systematical arena, and it's unfortunate that a maniacal monster is able to be free to walk the street. It had been two years since the judge enforced my safety, and ruled that my ex monster and his bully thug friends leave me alone.

A truth in life is that the childishly insecure, bored and cruel ,when they lose, miss their targets of malicious amusement, For they are no one, and are nothing by themselves.

I gave him no eye contact. I immediately closed my PC windows, quickly paid for my time, and abruptly exited the premises. I did not want to make a scene in a place of business.

Clutching my phone, I hurried home, looking over my shoulder the entire time, ready to call 911 if needed. I've been granted an order of protection, and have the authority to employ the police to enforce it. I use this power with responsible determination.

2007 ended for me not only with a reinforced awareness for my safety, but with cherished pride for my bravery, independence, and earned respect.

It's almost time for my braces to come off, and like the Roadrunner I have to remain one step ahead of the game, with Mind Body and Spirit aligned.

No one's stopping me from reaching the finish line and achieving my dreams.

I still Believe.

I made him get up and walk and talk. I learned how to do his physical therapy , attend to his trach and feeding tube- I became his nurse . For my trouble, I was ordered by a judge to allow my kids around his family without me present. They constantly down me and tell my kids I did not care about anything but insurance money. I kept none of it. I gave him the house, car and 70,000 dollars and walked away with a clear concience and our 2 handicapped kids. We have lived hard, but I am not sorry. I have been threatened alot by his family but can never prove it bc they are slick. Whenever they're around I pray for the Archangel Michael to strengthen and defend me!

I completely feel for you om the ex-monster thing. I survived a really bad domestic situation. Mine is complicated by the fact that b4 I could afford to file for a divorce, he became disabled due to a head injury he sustained during a freak accident. I felt it was god granting me a restraining order in his own way. The down side is that no judge ever saw him while he was fit mentally and physically. I stayed with him almost a year after the accident out of pity. He was in coma for months and had been declared a vegetable.
